Why Use a Travel Agent?

Travel consultants are highly trained, knowledgeable professionals. At Antietam Travel Service, Inc., our travel consultants provide expert and personalized service to our clients using the most advanced travel technology available.

If you go to an airline Web site to book your ticket to save paying a small fee, you have no way of knowing if you paid the least, the most, or somewhere in between for your ticket compared to other airlines. If you use a travel consultant, you get competitive fare information and, often, preferred discount rates.

If you decide to search multiple airline sites for the "best deal", it will take you an hour or more, and you still won't know if you found the best price. How much is your time worth? A good agent will save you time and money. Booking directly with an airline will save you neither, and you will have no help if you run into a travel emergency.

So the next time you are planning a business trip or vacation, please call the travel experts at Antietam Travel Service, Inc.

Royal Celebrity in Alaska

Linda and Bill Cleveland, owners of Antietam Travel Service, Inc., visited Alaska earlier this year as part of a group of 50 travel agents on a familiarization trip. Escorted by Royal Celebrity Tours, they visited Anchorage, Talkeetna, Denali, and Fairbanks.

The purpose of this trip was for Royal Celebrity to highlight the land portion of their Alaska CruiseTours, including their new motorcoaches and railcars (see below). And please note that all Royal Celebrity land tours are fully escorted by Tour Directors, who not only serve as your guide and historian, but also as your personal concierge.

After their flight to Anchorage, where they stayed at the Anchorage Downtown Marriot. A morning visit to the Alyeska Prince resort provided the opportunity to enjoy a tram ride 2,300 feet to the top of Mt. Alyeska. An afternoon visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center preceded the motorcoach ride to Talkeetna, where they stayed at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, just minutes from the town.

A morning rafting trip down the Talkeetna River was followed by motorcoach ride to McKinley Village Lodge for lunch. The highlight of the afternoon was a visit to the home of Iditarod Champion Jeff King and his 80 Alaskan Huskies. The motorcoach then continued to the Grande Denali Lodge, located just outside Denali National Park on a mountain bluff overlooking the Alaska Range and Nenana River.

The highlight of the trip for Linda and Bill was their flightseeing trip to Denali (Mt. McKinley). The weather broke the morning of this excursion, and the flight was a once-in-a-lifetime thrill. Please note in the photo below that the distance between Denali's north peak (19,470 feet) on the left and south peak (20,320 feet) on the right is about two miles, and the airplane was flying at an altitude of 10,000 feet!

Denali, also known as Mt. McKinley

Following the flight, they boarded the Wilderness Express dome railcar for the trip to Fairbanks, where they stayed at the Pike's Waterfront Lodge. The morning excursion was aboard the Riverboat Discovery Sternwheeler for a trip to an Athabascan Indian Village. They then boarded the motorcoach for the short trip to the Fairbanks airport and the flight home.

If all of this talk of Alaska has piqued your interest, why not...
